Natalie has made numerous memorable visits to Blackberry Farm over the last decade. Her love for the place and the people there brings her back, again and again. And so, for the third time, we’ve partnered with Blackberry Farm to offer a weekend sewing workshop, hosted on-site at the Smoky Mountain property. Located on a 4,200-acre working farm in Walland, Tennessee, Blackberry Farm makes it their goal to preserve the Appalachian culture and cuisine that surrounds them. The Farm offers superb on-site chefs, an award-winning wine cellar, an exquisite spa, and sincere hospitality. For these reasons (and many more), we happily return for another unique experience in this incredible setting. The Blackberry Farm Classic Weekend Workshop takes place from January 27 – 29, 2017.
The workshop includes all the materials you will need to create a custom, hand-sewn garment from one of our four Studio Books (Alabama Stitch Book, Alabama Studio Style, Alabama Studio Sewing + Design, and Alabama Studio Sewing Patterns). Guests will be immersed in the Alabama Chanin philosophy as they work with Natalie and learn various stitching techniques, tips, and tricks. Conducted in a casual, open forum, the workshop covers a wide range of topics such as the physics of sewing, garment construction, and discussions on sustainable design. Along with sewing instruction, all guests will enjoy Blackberry Farm cuisine, fellowship, laughter, and a have a chance to explore their mountain surroundings.
