As part of our Handmade Holiday 2013 selection, we are offering limited edition Holiday DIY Kits. Look for brand new items, some favorites from the past, and special, holiday picks. Alabama Chanin believes that holiday gifts mean more when they are handmade.
This DIY Onesie + Baby Blanket Kit is a two-item option normally only offered for our One-Day Workshops. The smaller scale of each item means that experienced sewers will quickly have a completed gift, ready for wrapping; beginning sewers can learn, practice embroidery techniques on a smaller canvas, and expectant parents (and/or grandparents) can spend (at least a little) time making for baby.
The Onesie is available in Natural, but you can choose a reverse appliqué color to best suit your (or your loved one’s) tastes.
OUR DESIGN CHOICES
Outside fabric color – Natural
Inside fabric color – White
Textile paint color – Cream
Button Craft thread – Dogwood #155
Technique – reverse appliqué on the Onesie; random reverse appliqué for the blanket
Visit our Workshops section for a complete listing of our upcoming workshops—which also make great gifts.
Happy (early) holidays.
Would love to order your onesie and blanket set. What sizes are available?
Also, do you have your placemats available to purchase with out signing up for the workshop? Would like three sets – four to a set if I remember correctly. I took one of your workshops last fall, loved it, learned so much.
Natalie is a great teacher!
Thank you.

Leslie,
The onesie is sized to fit 3-6 months. The blanket measures 36″ x 36″.
And yes, you can purchase our DIY Clematis Placemats Kit (available in sets of four) here:

Do you still have DIY onesie and blanket kits available, or is there a pattern for the onesie?
Hi Jen,
The Onesie was not our original pattern. Feel free to use any existing baby Onesie that you may find on the market, we found ours here. http://sosfromtexas.com/collections/baby-items/products/organic-cotton-baby-snappie
The Blanket dimensions are 36″ x 36″, and the square can easily be cut by measuring. Be on the lookout for new patterns added to our Resources page this year; we plan to add a few children’s options…
