LAUNCHING ALABAMA STUDIO SEWING PATTERNS

Last Thursday we started shipping our newest book, Alabama Studio Sewing Patterns.  Stacks of books around the office moved quickly into boxes and off into the hands of readers.  Thank you for all your sweet notes of praise and excitement.  We find it equally exciting to move on to this next chapter.

Look for our post tomorrow on “How To Print a Pattern,” fresh DIY Kits—inspired by the new book—launch on Thursday, Friday our updated Studio Books + Patterns page arrives with a new downloadable garment pattern and improved stencil design PDFs, and look for our (first-round) blog tour over the coming weeks, featuring Heather Ross, Anna Maria HornerKristine Vejar, Amy Herzog, Joelle Hoverson, and Amy Butler (in no particular order).

Once you’ve had the chance to open your box and digest the contents, let us know what you think. Looking forward to hearing from each and every one of you…

Received my copy in the mail (with my sweet little gift) yesterday and am loving it! Even though there are only officially three new patterns in this book, it provides many ideas of how to alter all of the other patterns that have been put out to date so it’s as if there are many many more new pattens included – can’t wait to start! What shall I put pockets in or lower the neckline of or add godets or princess seams to….or….or…!!!

Would it be possible to share technical drawings of the new patterns as well as a size chart, like other sewing patterns? Its hard to decide if I want to purchase this book without that information.

To my utter surprise, mine arrived yesterday, with the sweet little gift…love the new book; I have all of them! Despite the similarities, they all are useful in different ways. I have always wondered about alterations for necklines and mixing patterns, and i am so glad to finally have some guidance about it! Now if you could ship me some extra free time to sit down and start to sew…I have the cotton jersey, thread, beads and even a DIY kit, a half finished embroidered poncho…and lots of ideas and wishes and AC style dreams to make come true. Love to you all.

When I saw the box I broke into a big smile. Thank you for the gift. I spent the rest of the evening turning each page slowly, soaking it in without reading, and the smile never left me. I love every garment I have made and this inspires me to do more. Slowly.

I was traveling when your book arrived-but my husband sent me a text as soon as the mail lady delivered the package. He knew that I had been anticipating the arrival of your book. Opening that package was high on my priority list when I returned home. The book is wonderful and I am delighted! Thank you-for the book, for the inspiration and for the sharing…..

Natalie, thank you for this book. As a “plus” sized woman, I have looked at looked at the simple styles in your books and shuddered at the thought of having to draft them in my size. Consequently, I have stuck with patterns I know that I think will work with your technique (I am currently cutting an Angie’s Fall stencil for a kimono styled vest – what was I thinking). After looking through this book the shuddering has stopped and I look forward to adapting theses patterns for my use. Thank you for sharing.

I received my copy today – it’s very exciting! I really appreciate the generosity that makes you share so much information and technique. The detailed instructions on altering patterns are very welcome, and the large print will be helpful for many, I’m sure.
