One of our top priorities at The School of Making and Alabama Chanin is to be honest and transparent about our processes. On Tuesday, we posted about supply chain issues we’ve had in the past due to increased demand and decreased supply of our organic cotton. Last year, our cotton farmers in Texas faced challenges due to inconsistent temperatures and unpredictable weather which caused a decreased supply. Increased demand and decreased supply mean higher cost of goods. Last year, we raised the price of our 100% Organic Medium-weight Cotton Jersey, but there are some areas that have not been adjusted, including our DIY Kits.
On Monday, February 19th, the prices of our DIY kits will experience a slight increase to reflect the rising cost of organic cotton—through the weekend you’ll find our DIY Kits (collection and custom) available at its current pricing. On Monday, we will also be retiring a number of kits and adding new DIY Collection Kits as well as updating this section for spring—including the silhouettes from our 2017 Build a Wardrobe as well as a selection of kits designed to accompany our new Bluprint class (launching in the coming weeks).
Shop our DIY Kits here, and look for “Last Chance” in the top right-hand corner of the photo on the kits page to indicate what’s going away. But don’t worry—you’ll still be able to order anything from our current collection through Custom DIY at our new prices if you miss out.
