“Music is the universal language of mankind.” ― Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Music and renowned recording studios have deep roots here in The Shoals. FAME Recording Studios and the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio have, for decades, hosted some of the most famous musicians and singers from across all genres of music. Newer studios, like our friends at Single Lock Records, represent a new generation of musicians in The Shoals, keeping the recording tradition alive and well.

These are just a few of the many studios dotted across Alabama. This week explore recording studios, from our little north-west corner of the state, all the way down to the coast, with us. Listen to our Muscle Shoals Sound playlist on Spotify, along with other curated lists like For Adventure + Home.

Touring Muscle Shoals Sound Studio was an incredibly fun highlight of my first visit to Alabama Chanin for the Project Threads symposium. What an experience! As a music lover, the history is deep and rich. Thanks for this wonderful post with so many links to explore.
