July’s Swatch of the Month embroidery explores the iconic Satin Stars technique, featured in Alabama Studio Sewing + Design. The monthly subscriber-exclusive newsletter provides instructions for Satin Stars, shares our love for beads, and discusses the topic of slow living with Lady Farmer, a sustainable apparel and lifestyle brand.
As this month’s newsletter partner, Lady Farmer shares ways to celebrate and promote a slower way of living through methods like self-care, mindfulness, farming and gardening, and sustainable living.
Mary E. and Emma Kingsley, co-founders of Lady Farmer
Founded in 2016, Lady Farmer was formed in response to the growing movement of people who identify with nature and its cycles, simple comforts, tradition, and sustainability. Mother-daughter duo Mary and Emma Kingsley initially partnered to produce ethical and sustainable clothing that fit their lifestyle. Their efforts expanded beyond their apparel production to an educational and community platform in the realms of slow living and sustainability. Today, Lady Farmer continues to cultivate a community that fosters independence from consumer systems that are harmful to humans and the planet. They teach ethical sourcing of food, clothing, and products of daily life that are healthful and regenerative.
